What does beauty mean to you?

"Beauty is the enabling power of the truly good to draw us out of ourselves for the achievement of excellence. The bias which regards beauty as ornamental, cosmic, and useless overlooks the indispensable motivational power of beauty for the attainment of human excellence and happiness."                    - from John Navone, Enjoying God's Beauty.

Nancy Reyner - Rebalancing left & right brain hemispheres

Another article on the importance of ART!

Thanks, Cheryl. Agreed! ART SAVES LIVES!

from Nancy Ryner, artist, Santa Fe NM.

“Call me an optimist, but I believe that art can heal. Man has the powerful ability to dream, to create better worlds and new realities. And images play an important role in this. Our history begins with images, which go far back in time, even farther than language, and are cross cultural. We are united through images. I keep this in mind daily as I am barraged through news and media with sensationalist stories and events of world crisis. Part of me wants to join the peace corps but instead I paint. I paint with the conviction that my images can heal.”

The high-lighting is by me.

Great drawing hour!

More to come 3rd Sundays between services!
Movie:

"Wow, that is special ... for me I need Holy Spirit empowerment for literally
everything from cooking to gardening, not to mention study and prayer.
There was a little line at the end of my "poetry" however, which spoke to me a
nd to Stephanie my eldest daughter.: . . . . . I am calling, I awaken you to my
Voice. Listen and hen . . . live your reply. "As I thought on this I realized how
God expects an affirmative reply to His call. What a glorious optimist?
Rejoicing in His beauty,
Susannah
PS  I am putting and keeping the Fine Arts Ministry in the Tuesday
"prayer and fasting" agenda. I am exhausting myself with excitement over what the Lord is doing using you two beautiful servants of His."
-------------------------
"I spent a lot of time drawing today myself. I often avoid drawing. It is the left brain function syndrome problem. However, I need to draw for some illustration work. I think most of the time I get stumped by what medium to use. Should I use pencil, charcoal, pen and ink? This debate keeps me from starting. So Sunday's workshop got me going too. I did several graphite drawings (sketches) today. I will send a photo of the sea otter I did. He is really cute.

Suzannah, thanks for your sharing from your lovely poem. That really is the Truth, that God is on the give and He wants a reply!
Love, Cheryl"

"How blessed i am with your enthusiasm and excitement!
Thank you, Cheryl, for your sharing about your quandary
whenever you begin or think about drawing. It is an
encouragement to me regarding several things". -- Susannah Barbian

Amos 5:8

Seek Him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: the LORD is His Name, Yehovah, El Gibbor. Ahh!

The Vision

Art not only saves lives, but sacramental expressions of faith
foster healing, fellowship, clarity of church identity, and vision
(pray for the team seeking His face!), individual joy and a means
to rest in His presence while sharing His glory.

Ukrainian Egg Design Process & mini movie

dye (or white) is sealed under pure bee’s wax applied with a batik-like “kistka” that is heated near a candle flame. Try to keep the candle carbon out of the hopper because they
clog easily. Once you get it going, though,  they seem to go on forever. Layer up as many colors as you desire. Then the egg is hollowed out by displacing the poked yolk with light
syringed air pressure through one drilled hole at either end. The yoke shoots out around
the needle. Then water is likewise swished around and blown out. Next, the wax is melted off and the egg is varnished. One needn't be an artist to collect & use patterns. Have fun!

Mini movie.
